Dr. Nabeel Abdel-Fattah Abu Shaban , Chairman
The department of Mechanical engineering, offers an undergraduate program leading to Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering after successfully passing 160 credit hours. The department has been established to graduate Mechanical Engineers closely committed to the advancement of science and technology that our world is witnessing today. The related field of mechanical engineering has a bright future since that size of manufacture and growth is rapidly improving. This program focuses on necessary theories and practical technology in the thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics, cooling and heating of buildings, and air-conditioning fields. This engineering program has the aim of promoting superior professional intellectuals in the mechanical engineering fields and providing instructions and hands on experiments by outstanding experienced teaching staff. The program is recently preparing for the ABET accreditation.
The department includes labs and workshops equipped by the latest and modern apparatuses. These labs include fundamental labs such as, strength of materials lab, mechanical vibration lab, heat transfer lab, thermodynamics lab, A/C lab, automatic control lab, hydraulic pneumatic lab, internal combustion lab, fluid lab, manufacturing and CNC lab, and Engineering workshops.
|1.||Apply the knowledge in mechanical engineering fundamentals, mathematics, and computing to solve a wide range of technical problems.|
|2.||Have the ability to interact with others as leaders and team members.|
|3.||Ability to continue their education in mechanical engineering or any other lifelong learning program.|
|4.||Attain a high level of professionalism and ethical responsibilities.|
The Department was established in the Year 2011. The number of its teaching staff members is 9 instructors. The number of its enrolled students is 60. The number of research papers by the teaching staff members up to this date has reached 3 papers published in refereed international journals and 6 papers published in international, Arab, and local conferences.
1. Updating the Department’s course plan and education resources to suit the Department’s vision for the education process.
2. Encouraging teaching staff members to conduct scientific research and publish in refereed scientific journals and international conferences.
3. Organizing a number of curricular and extracurricular activities for the purpose of communicating and interacting with the community
