Some experimental aspects of drag reduction in thermoplastic pipes

Abstract:

This paper reports some experimental results of using a new additive solution for reducing drag in thermoplastic pipes. It was found that the amount of drag achieved is very much dependent on the diameter of the pipe, Reynolds number, and concentrations of the additives. In general it was found that the drag is higher in small-diameter thermoplastic pipes. The maximum drag reduction obtained was 29.4%.
