Water conservation in solar domestic hot water systems
Abstract:
The effect of using solar domestic hot water heating systems on water consumption is investigated for different system configurations.
Random samples of actual data for water consumption, obtained from the water authority, together with data from solar heating collector manufacturers for systems installed, have been analyzed. It was found that the water consumption varies with the following parameters: length of the piping system and design of the domestic heating system network. In general, an average increase of 36.6% in water consumption has been found. Techniques and suggestions have been proposed for reducing the water consumption.
