About :

The Department of Mathematics was established in 1993, where students in the "Bachelor of Mathematics" program study 132 credit hours. Courses distributed across different knowledge areas: pure mathematics, applied mathematics, statistics & probability, and methods of teaching mathematics. A master's program in mathematics was, also, introduced in 2020, where students study 33 credit hours. The program offers two tracks: the thesis track and the comprehensive exam track, providing students with the opportunity to expand their knowledge in scientific research and their desired specialization.

Achievements:

• The Accreditation and Quality Assurance Commission for Higher Education institutions (AQACHEI) agreed to accommodate the qualification (Mathematics/Bachelor’s Program) into the Jordanian National Qualifications Framework (Level 7) to become the first accommodated Mathematics Department at Level 7 in Jordan.

• Dr. Waseem Ghazi Alshanti and Dr. Mamoun Abu Hamad from the Department of Mathematics, in collaboration with a research team, solved three open mathematical problems in the field of mathematical analysis in 2024.

• Dr. Mamoun Abu Hamad and Dr. Iqbal Batiha were included in Stanford University's list of the top 2% of researchers worldwide based on citation metrics for the year 2023.

• Dr. Iqbal Batiha from the Department of Mathematics won the Distinguished Researcher Award in the Ali Al-Qurm Excellence and Innovation Competition in the field of Basic and Applied Sciences / 3rd Edition, 2024.
