About :
The Department of Mathematics was established in 1993, where students in the "Bachelor of Mathematics" program study 132 credit hours. Courses distributed across different knowledge areas: pure mathematics, applied mathematics, statistics & probability, and methods of teaching mathematics. A master's program in mathematics was, also, introduced in 2020, where students study 33 credit hours. The program offers two tracks: the thesis track and the comprehensive exam track, providing students with the opportunity to expand their knowledge in scientific research and their desired specialization.
Achievements:
The Accreditation and Quality Assurance Commission for Higher Education institutions (AQACHEI) agreed to accommodate the qualification (Mathematics/Bachelor’s Program) into the Jordanian National Qualifications Framework (Level 7) to become the first accommodated Mathematics Department at Level 7 in Jordan.
Dr. Waseem Ghazi Alshanti and Dr. Mamoun Abu Hamad from the Department of Mathematics, in collaboration with a research team, solved three open mathematical problems in the field of mathematical analysis in 2024.
Dr. Mamoun Abu Hamad and Dr. Iqbal Batiha were included in Stanford University's list of the top 2% of researchers worldwide based on citation metrics for the year 2023.
Dr. Iqbal Batiha from the Department of Mathematics won the Distinguished Researcher Award in the Ali Al-Qurm Excellence and Innovation Competition in the field of Basic and Applied Sciences / 3rd Edition, 2024.
