The ceremony to honor Jordanian and foreign students, the top graduates of higher education institutions in Jordan, was under the patronage of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Professor Dr. Azmi Mahafzah, but due to his emergency absence, the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Mamoun Al-Dabai, received and handed over shields and certificates to the student Afnan Muhammad Yassin Hamdan, number (201910733), from the Department of French and English Language and Literature (Success Story)
Training course for faculty members in cooperation with the Francophone University Agency
The Department of French and English Language and Literature implemented a training course for the period from 09 to 11/01/2024 for faculty members in the college, in cooperation with the University Agency of Francophonie, entitled "Means and Methods of Exam Evaluation". The course's axes focus on training faculty members to formulate exam questions in a logical and systematic manner with the educational outcomes of the courses and with the activities implemented during the semester. Dr. Musa Ahmed Al-Zghoul, Dean of the Faculty of Arts at Al-Zaytouna University, gave an introductory speech about the course and welcomed the trainer, Prof. Dr. Basma Ghali, and the attendees, hoping that cooperation between Al-Zaytouna University and the University Agency of Francophonie would continue in a way that serves the educational process and professional training for faculty members.
Nadia Nayef Arshid Al-Marshood, Jordan's Ambassador for Arabic Language Assistants
Student Nadia Nayef Arshid Al-Marshood (201820394), a graduate of the Department of French and English Language and Literature in the first semester of the academic year 2022-2023, received the Arabic Language Assistant Scholarship granted by the French Embassy in Amman for the academic year 2023-2024 after passing the interview test for the scholarship. The student showed excellence in performance at the school where she was appointed, so she was chosen by the French Ministry of Education as Jordan's Ambassador for Arabic Language Assistants. Introductory visit to the university library
Ms. Dima Muhammad Al-Wahsh and the students of the French Language Department in the first and second academic year made an introductory visit to the university library, which aims to introduce the student to the facilities of the Al-Zaytouna Library, such as the reference and sources hall, the lending room, and the electronic database, on 05/28/2024.
Planting One Hundred Trees
As part of the university’s mission and its commitment to social responsibility, and in response to the directives of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al-Hussein bin Abdullah II—aimed at engaging youth in serving and developing their Jordanian community—the Department of French and English at Al-Zaytoonah University of Jordan, in valued cooperation with the Community Development Sector of the Greater Amman Municipality, represented by the Department of Social Programs and Facilities, planted one hundred forest trees at the Amman Permanent Park site.
This activity comes within a series of initiatives implemented by the Faculty to serve the local community and encourage its students to participate in volunteer work and embrace their leading role in the development of their society. The activity was supervised by Ms Dima Al-Wahsh, with the active participation of all academic and administrative staff members, as well as a number of department students.
Regional Mediation Training Camp
Two students, Ammar Shaheen and Mohammad Al-Basbas, from the Department of French Language and Literature at Al-Zaytoonah University of Jordan, participated in the Regional Mediation Training Camp organized by the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie – Middle East (AUF), in partnership with the Professional Mediation Center at Saint Joseph University in Beirut, from May 20 to 23, 2025.
The camp brought together around fifty students from seven countries across the region. It was conducted in French and Arabic at the Professional Mediation Center in Beirut.
The camp aimed to strengthen the participants’ understanding of the core principles of mediation and to highlight the role of the mediator as a neutral party who facilitates dialogue between disputing sides without judgment or bias.

Visit of Professor Katie Hayek from Saint-Louis University, Belgium, in cooperation with the International Relations Office and within the Erasmus Plus program for the period from 5 to 8/03/2024, where she taught some courses and gave an introductory lecture to all students of the department entitled "Belgium, a Francophone and European Country"
