Lecture at Al-Zaytoonah University entitled "Social Responsibility: The Basis of Community Work and Combating Drug Crimes in Jordanian Society"

The Department of Basic Sciences at Al-Zaytoonah University, in cooperation with the Anti-Narcotics Department of the Public Security, organized an awareness lecture for students of the Faculty of Arts - Department of Basic Sciences entitled "Social Responsibility: The Basis of Community Work and Combating Drug Crimes in Jordanian Society", presented by Captain Ammar Al-Rawajih from the Anti-Narcotics Department, which aimed to educate students about the dangers of drugs and their negative effects on society. Captain Al-Rawajih explained that combating drug crimes is a collective responsibility, requiring the combined efforts of individuals, families, educational and governmental institutions, in addition to society as a whole. He stressed that awareness and cooperation between the various parties can contribute to reducing the spread of drugs and supporting affected individuals, which helps in building a safer and healthier society. He also spoke about the importance of reporting suspicious activities that may contribute to enabling the Anti-Narcotics Department to carry out raids and arrest criminals. The lecture was attended by the Dean of the College, Dr. Musa Al-Zghoul, and a number of members of the teaching and administrative staff, as part of the university’s plan to increase awareness among students and achieve its goals in combating drugs.


Fluent Future Event

The Faculty of Arts, Department of Basic Sciences, at Al-Zaytoonah University of Jordan organized an event titled "Fluent English" with the aim of encouraging students to improve their English language skills in innovative and unconventional ways. The event was attended by the Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Musa Al-Zghoul, and the Head of the Department of Basic Sciences, Dr. Rasha Mobaideen, in addition to a group of professors from the department. Dr. Ali Al-Thawabiyeh and Mr. Abdullah Hassanein also participated in presenting their experiences on how to develop English language skills in general. In his speech, Dr. Saddam Al-Radeaat pointed out the importance of learning English in the modern era, emphasizing its significant role in the fields of education and daily life. A recorded video was also shown by Dr. James Badger from the University of North Georgia in the United States, discussing the importance of the English language in academic and daily life, and the best ways to develop language skills. The event was characterized by a large attendance and fruitful interaction from students who exchanged their ideas on how to enhance their language skills in modern and effective ways


The Minister of Culture inaugurates the "Fourth Poetry Criticism Forum for 2024" at Al-Zaytoonah University of Jordan

His Excellency the Minister of Culture, Professor Mustafa Al-Rawashdeh, inaugurated the Fourth Poetry Criticism Forum for 2024 at Al-Zaytoonah University of Jordan, in cooperation with the House of Poetry - Mafraq, on the occasion of the World Arabic Language Day. In the presence of the President of the University, Professor Dr. Muhammad Al-Majali, the Director of the House of Poetry of Mafraq, His Excellency Professor Faisal Al-Sarhan, the Vice President, Professor Dr. Tariq Al-Qarm, the Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Dr. Musa Al-Zghoul, in addition to the deans of the faculties, members of the teaching and administrative staff, and a number of participating researchers. The coordinator of the forum, Dr. Iman Abdul Hadi from the Department of Basic Sciences, stated that the forum will last for two days, as it will address topics related to contemporary Arabic poetry in light of the major changes the world is witnessing, such as "Death in Theory", "The New World Order", and the effects of epidemics and wars, as well as the effects of technology and artificial intelligence on poetry and society.


Participation of faculty members in the Department of Basic Sciences in judging the competition

Both faculty members from the College of Arts/Department of Basic Sciences (Mr. Fatima Abu Ras and Mr. Zain Al-Amaira) participated as a participating member of the jury for the TED Talkathon competition held at Al-Hasad International Educational Schools during the period from May 9-12, 2024, which had a great impact in supporting and encouraging students to present their ideas and highlight their excellence.

Students of the “Communication Skills” course visit the university library

On Tuesday, May 6, 2025, Ms. Ruba Al-Shahwan from the Department of Basic Sciences made a scientific visit to the library, accompanied by students of the “Communication Skills” course in English. Each student was asked to write a brief summary in English about the life of a well-known figure who had a prominent scientific or historical impact.
