Vision

The English Department is distinguished and pioneering in teaching and scientific research in the arenas of literature and translation locally and regionally. The department also fosters interaction with the cultures of the English-speaking world and qualifies active students in serving their community.

Mission

The English Department furnishes qualitative teaching process in the arenas of literature and translation, develops students’ linguistic and research skills, and contributes to enabling them to participate effectively in local and regional development and positively interact with global civilizations

Goals

• 1. Developing students’ linguistic and communication skills. 2. Encouraging students to understand the English-speaking world. 3. Developing students’ critical thinking skills and research capabilities in the specialization. 4. Preparing distinguished students in the English language capable of contributing to serving the local and regional community and communicating with other world civilizations. About the Department: The Department-based information is updated when the report is prepared. On September 6, 1993, the English Department was established and its first batch of graduates were in July 1997. The Department offers study programs: 1. Bachelor's program in English Language/Literature 2. Bachelor's program in English language/translation 3. Master’s program in English Language/Literature The department has distinguished itself academically, achieving advanced results in the Higher Education Council examinations as a result of the efforts of the faculty members, who are an elite group of graduates from Arab, Malaysian, British, and American universities. The department's graduates have also demonstrated excellence in the domains of work, whether in the governmental or private sector, offering an integrated cultural program, such as discussion circles for the faculty, public lectures, and various cultural competitions for students. Thanks to the high demand for enrollment in the department’s programs, the evening studies program was established in the English language/translation major in 1998. The department always strives to accomplish excellence by providing high-quality higher education in line with international standards. The number of faculty members in the department is currently 15, and 659 male and female students are currently studying at the department. 34 students have graduated from the literature program and 116 from the translation program, including 12 with master’s degrees. The number of research papers by faculty members is 18 annually published in peer-reviewed international journals and (2) participants in international conferences to date.
