Health Insurance Instructions for Al-Zaytoonah University Students

Article 1 : These instructions are called "Medical Insurance for Students of Al-Zaytoonah University of Jordan," and they come into effect at the beginning of the academic year 1996/1997.

Article 2 : Definitions

  • University : Refers to Al-Zaytoonah University of Jordan.

  • Insured Students : All students enrolled at the university who are covered under the medical insurance.

  • Insurance Fee : The fee for student medical insurance as approved by the university.

  • Hospital : Refers to the specific hospitals designated for treating the insured university students.

Article 3 :

  • Enrollment in the medical insurance is mandatory.

  • The medical insurance becomes effective at the beginning of the academic year.

  • The duration of the medical insurance is one full year.

Article 4 :
Half of the insurance fee is paid along with the university fees at the beginning of each semester.

Article 5:

  • There is a medical network covering the entire country, including hospitals, doctors, laboratories, and radiology services.

  • The university has a medical clinic equipped with the latest medical equipment for students.

  • Students can visit the university clinic during official working hours to benefit from the services, and for referrals to specialized facilities.

  • In the event that a student cannot reach the university clinic due to official holidays or weekends, they can contact the university clinic by phone for treatment or referral to specialized doctors or hospitals, only in emergency cases.

  • Note: The medical network is subject to change, and the student is advised to consult the latest information from the university clinic.

Article 6 :
- The medical insurance covers medical conditions that occur to the student from the moment of enrollment in the university until graduation.
- Exclusions : The medical insurance does not cover the following cases:

  • Suicide or self-harm, or attempts thereof.

  • Participation in or attempt to commit a crime or a fight.

  • All cases resulting from war, invasion, foreign enemy actions, military operations (whether war is declared or not), civil war, revolution, rebellion, insurrection, martial law, acts of terrorism, or public disturbances.

  • Accidents resulting from dangerous hobbies such as car racing, mountain climbing, motorcycling, etc.

  • All cases resulting from alcohol or drug addiction, or from hallucinogens.

  • Pollution from nuclear, radioactive, or chemical substances, or residues from military equipment or nuclear reactors.

  • Natural disasters like earthquakes, floods, volcanic eruptions, and landslides.

  • Any pre-existing medical conditions (and their complications) that existed before the start of the insurance coverage or before the student’s enrollment in the university.

  • All cases related to chronic diseases, cancer, and contagious diseases covered by state healthcare, as well as conditions such as epilepsy, mental disorders, Alzheimer's, and geriatric conditions.

  • Cosmetic surgeries and procedures, vitamins, hair loss treatments, acne treatments, and conditions related to hormones and fertility.

  • Treatments or procedures administered by someone other than a licensed physician.

  • Cases requiring corrective hearing or vision devices, unless caused by an accident covered by the insurance.

  • Dental and gum surgery, except if caused by an accident covered by the insurance.

  • Congenital and hereditary diseases, as well as organ transplants, prosthetics, and other assistive devices.

  • Work-related injuries, road accidents, and other diseases covered by state healthcare.

  • Any medical treatments that can be done outside the hospital, but which are done inside the hospital unnecessarily, exposing the insured to risk.

  • Vaccines, serums, cosmetic products, and other medications that are not considered essential drugs.

  • Multiple prescriptions for the same medication, except for antibiotics, antifungal, or antiparasitic treatments.

  • Diagnosis and treatment of nasal polyps, varicose veins, chronic conditions, and pregnancy-related expenses.

  • Spinal conditions unless directly caused by a covered accident, and treatment for chronic ulcers, varicose veins, and tonsillectomies.



Article 7 :
- The university card serves as the health insurance card for students.
